Sustainability

An Conscious Awareness

With a conscious DNA, Maison Poi is trying to do things better. That means better materials, better processes and better outcomes.

Maison Poi considers every aspect of the production process starting with the choice of materials that we source. When using synthetic fibres, we implement responsible initiatives including recycling synthetics to minimise unnecessary wastage. Furthermore, with a relentless move towards increasing sustainability, there is a growing focus on fabrics such as lenzing, tencel and ecovero.

Moving along the production line, every garment is made right here in Sydney, Australia. Maison Poi is only manufacture in ECA (Ethical Clothing Australia) factories which protect and uphold the rights of Australian garment workers, ensuring workers are being paid appropriately, receiving their legal minimum entitlements and working in safe conditions.

The methods of production are environmentally friendly including the ‘sublimation’ printing method which is a zero-waste printing method. There is also a preference to laser cut fabric, allowing for freedom and accuracy in design, thus minimising wastage.

Wastage is frowned upon hence we strongly encourage re-use for product longevity and minimising unnecessary waste. We also take measures to minimise packaging from the production to the distribution phase.

Ultimately, Maison Poi will aim for 100% sustainability and with each technological advancement, this target is drawing nearer. Until then, the focus remains on reducing the carbon footprint, minimising chemical usage and choosing biodegradable fabrics and materials. In essence, creating the best possible product, with the best practices without forfeiting quality and design.

With a conscious DNA, we truly believe that there is always more we can do. Hence, we forever keep our eyes wide open, while being transparent about every new step we take towards sustainability. And we promise to continually strive to do more for the environment each and every day.
